Many Trusts have found implementation of the Department of Health policy on Informed Consent difficult. As well as providing tailored training days InPractice has developed a web based training called Informed Consent on the Net (ICON) to help healthcare professionals understand the law surrounding consent and how it applies to their day to day practice.

The emphasis throughout ICON is on practicality. It has been designed for use by all levels of healthcare professionals and specialities, including mental health.

ICON consists of over a hundred case studies with multiple-choice questions. Using text and sound files, answers and explanations are provided in clear, non-legalistic language with reference to professional guidance, new case law and Department of Health guidance (which can be printed out and kept).
