Statement from InPractice
InPractice were pleased to have excerpts from their training day, on statement writing and courtroom skills, included in Tim Maby's report concerning witness training. Kate Hill was interviewed by Tim during the training day he observed and her comments were also included in the programme.

InPractice is still concerned that many witnesses who receive training from other organisations are at risk from coaching and being told what to say, not just how to present their evidence.

InPractice were pleased with the comments made by the Attorney-General on the programme but feel that he did not go far enough. We would still appreciate the government providing guidance on witness training as we feel that the professional legal bodies do not have appropriate powers to regulate witness training or to reprimand those who breach the conduct rules.
